I’m sure we have all been in a place where we have had someone say that they will pray for us or we have said “I’ll pray for you”. Do we really mean this or is it just a nice comforting thing to say? I have been realizing the power of prayer lately, what an awesome opportunity to get in touch with God’s heart and also to intercede on behalf of others.

I have found a free website that helps those of us who want to pray for others but have a hard time remembering to.

This website allows you the ability to set up specific prayer request and then helps you schedule when you want to be reminded to pray for someone. It will send you an email at the time you choose. If you don’t get on your computer much then you can opt for a text message instead. Check it out! www.echoprayer.com

In the Old Testament the prophets were known for drawing the people back to the essential truth of God. They were mostly ignored and often hated. I believe that Derek Webb is a prophet of our time. His new album The Ringing Bell tells of truth and transparency. You can check it out here: http://www.theringingbell.com/

His last album Mockingbird was designed to ask questions about what Jesus is really calling His followers to in the 21st century. One song that really stands out is A New Law.

A New Law

don’t teach me about politics and government
just tell me who to vote for

don’t teach me about truth and beauty
just label my music

don’t teach me how to live like a free man
just give me a new law
i don’t wanna know if the answers aren’t easy
so just bring it down from the mountain to me
i want a new law
i want a new law
gimme that new law
don’t teach me about moderation and liberty
i prefer a shot of grape juice

don’t teach me about loving my enemies

don’t teach me how to listen to the Spirit
just give me a new law
what’s the use in trading a law you can never keep
for one you can that cannot get you anything
do not be afraid
do not be afraid
do not be afraid
